The impact of donors at Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s is undeniable, and the generosity of the late Dr. Alfred Bader, BSc'45, BA'46, MSc'47, LLD'86, his wife, Isabel Bader, LLD’07, and Bader Philanthropies, Inc. has been nothing short of transformational.
To honour the legacy of the Bader family 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s philanthropic impact, Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s held Bader Celebrations. Over the course of a month, stories of impact and new gifts were shared with the alumni and greater Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s community. The celebration led to Principal Patrick Deane 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s declaration of Bader Day on Nov. 15 (appropriately, National Philanthropy Day), the 80th anniversary of Alfred Bader 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s arrival on campus.
Additionally, the celebration included the latest series of gifts from Isabel Bader and Bader Philanthropies, Inc., including:
- 12 paintings to Agnes Etherington Art Centre. The paintings, all from the Dutch 17th century, include still lifes, biblical scenes, and scenes from daily life.
- Nine Leica S9i microscopes to help students in the Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s Art Conservation program examine and treat cultural artifacts.
- Funding for the Outdoor Gathering Space, modelled after an Ojibway round house, and endowing a new full-time, permanent Curator, Indigenous Arts and Culture at Agnes.
Bader Celebrations were greatly supported by the Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s community, the Isabel, the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Bader International Study Centre, and many other partners, as well as the alumni community. Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s also celebrated Isabel Bader 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s 95th birthday on Nov. 1.
