AmeIyoba Threads for Change is a student-led sustainable thrift event that transforms donated clothing into community impact. In response to the high volume of waste generated during student move out periods, this initiative collects gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories and redistributes them through an affordable pop up thrift sale.

The event promotes sustainable consumption by extending the life cycle of clothing and reducing textile waste, while also making affordable clothing accessible to students. All proceeds support the AmeIyoba Centre for Women and Children, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing access to education, health resources, and community support for women and children.

Through this initiative, we aim to foster a culture of sustainability, community engagement, and social responsibility on campus.

This event is open to all audiences and is free to attend. Registration is not required.

International Women's Day (IWD), celebrated annually on March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for advancing gender equality.

Every year, a new theme for International Women's Day is announced, to encourage conversations and this year's theme, Give to Gain, highlights the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women multiply. Giving is not subtraction—it's intentional multiplication.
Please note that capacity for this event is limited and registration is required.
In this session, a spectrum of different asset owners will share the rationale behind their respective portfolio climate commitments and the approaches they are taking to achieve their goals.

Our panelists will discuss in practical terms what it took to set these goals and how they are being implemented including setting sub-goals, tracking performance, and stewardship.
The second annual health humanities symposium. During this one-day event, academics, writers, healthcare professionals, students, museum workers, and more will come together for a series of lightning explorations of the intersection of health, the humanities, and things. What is a thing? This year, that is what the symposium asks as well. Must a thing be an object, or can it be a practice or a belief? And how can things be used to teach, learn, and heal?

This event is a part of 91ÖÆƬ³§ 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s participation in #SDGMonthCanada, a nation-wide commitment to mobilizing the SDGs across campuses.

Join us on Monday, March 23rd for an open discussion forum on how we can make Queen's a bird-friendly campus!

Situated along a key ecological corridor for many local and migratory bird species, Queen's has a fundamental role to play in protecting our native bird populations, but bird collisions with windows are a major source of mortality in urban environments like Kingston.

Kingston is now making strides to become part of the national Bird Friendly City program by Nature Canada, and as a student-led group at Queen's University, we want to make sure Queen's can contribute to this amazing initiative!

For more information and to learn more about the Society for Conservation Biology Kingston Chapter's initiatives, please make sure to follow us on Instagram or check out our (new!) website.

This event is a part of 91ÖÆƬ³§ 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s participation in #SDGMonthCanada, a nation-wide commitment to mobilizing the SDGs across campuses.

Open to all Queen's-affiliated audiences, this event is hybrid and free to attend. Registration is required.

Register now

Program:

At this event, we will discuss 1) why do bird-window strikes occur, 2) how are they preventable, and 3) what Queen's can do to make a meaningful difference. We hope participants can leave feeling more informed about this issue, as well as encouraged to take action in their own lives and in the Queen's community!
