Following an already busy year filled with launching new initiatives, an additional two new plans are being introduced by the Faculty of Arts and Science for the 2017-18 academic year, just in time for plan selection for first-year students.
Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s Truth and Reconciliation Task Force Report
The Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s task force formed in April 2016 to begin the work of responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s final report on the history and legacy of Canada 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s residential school system for Aboriginal children.
Opportunities for undergraduate research
Each year, the Undergraduate Student Summer Research Fellowship (USSRF) provides students at Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s the opportunity to gain some valuable experience that will help them in their continuing studies and into their career.
Senate approves Fall Term Break
91ÖÆÆ¬³§ will implement a two-day fall term break for students enrolled in the four direct-entry undergraduate programs. The break will take effect in the 2018-19 academic year.
At the Top of the Class
Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s professor James Fraser (Physics, Engineering Physics and Astronomy) has received the prestigious 3M National Teaching Fellowship from the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). Dr. Fraser is the eighth Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s professor to be made a 3M Fellow, with the most recent being John Smol (Biology) in 2009.

The Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) provides students with a 12-16 month work experience. QUIP internships are paid, professionally supervised, career-related positions designed to offer second or third year students the opportunity to learn about current advances, practices and technologies in business and industry.
Ladder to Arts Leadership
91ÖÆÆ¬³§ has launched a new ‘laddered’ Graduate Diploma and Master 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s program that will provide students interested in pursuing or accelerating their career in the arts with a 360-degree view of the arts and culture industry.
