Programming Overview

This is a list of all of the programming offered by Faith and Spiritual Life. Please see our Program Calendar to see if they are currently running or see our Instagram for updates. Our programming falls into three categories: Community, Spirituality, and Support.

Community

Soup Lunches: Every Monday, we make fresh soup to be served in our office--because Mondays suck.

Knitting/Crafting with Grammas: An Intergenerational program where seniors from the wider community and students work together on collaborative crafts or knitting.

Dungeons and Dragons: This group is for students who are feeling isolated and looking to find community and connection. Whether you have plenty or little experience, our experienced DM is happy to help!

Crafternoons: Creative times for reflection and conversation.

Cookies and Conversation: Meet our team, learn about our services, or just get a cookie and chance to step away from the fun and chaos of orientation week or the exam period.

Outreach: Drop-by Lego building or knitting to introduce students to our office.

Soul Jam: Drop-in jam sessions with knowledge sharing, community building, and music making of all genres. All students are welcome - musicians, songwriters, poets, beginners, and anyone else inclined to join us!

Spirituality

The Voyagers Spirituality Group: A peer-led spirituality group for students seeking community who are interested in spirituality, meditation, and reflection. We hope to provide a fun and safe environment for students to explore and share concepts surrounding spirituality, religion, and philosophy. We wish to invite and inspire community and space which flowers ideas and perspectives. Ultimately, this is an attempt to cultivate loving compassion and realize our oneness!

Neurodivergent Spirituali-tea: A program for students to explore neurodivergence from the lenses of of faith, peer-led support, and accommodations. Neurodivergent students will have the opportunity to gather around a different discussion topic every month.

Weight of the World: A weekly time for rest, prayer, contemplation and compassion for the world and ourselves.

Interfaith Network: A collaboration with The Shift Project bringing students together for a monthly gathering to discuss Interfaith themes, and celebrate similarities.

Community Fires for Peace and the Good Mind: A Collaboration with OII (Elder Al and Ceremonial Assistant Sebastian) for a community Fire.

Support

Grief Group: The Grief Group offers six weeks of support for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Associate Interfaith Chaplain Heidi will work with the group to create a safe and brave space for sharing and listening, and explore ways to integrate our grief and loss into our lives. Registration required: chaplain@queensu.ca

Broken Hearted: Join Heidi (Chaplain, Grief Companion) and Marney (SWS Intern, Queer Artist) for the opportunity to share your stories, find support from your peers, and receive tools and frameworks to help you through this experience.

Cancer Support Group: A compassionate space for students coping with cancer (either personally or through the diagnosis or loss of a loved one) to connect with community and access support and resources.
