
Funded by Rideau Hall Foundation and administered by Universities Canada, Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships program (QES) was created to improve global talent exchange between Canada and other nations.
Queen's University's QES scholarship project is entitled Transdisciplinary Knowledge Translation for Social Transformation: Building Climate Resilient Communities through Co-development.
Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s will send twenty-four (24) undergraduate students from Smith Engineering, Global Development Studies, and Faculty of Health Sciences to Botswana, Colombia, and India to undertake 8 to 12 week community based resilience projects. We will also welcome seven (7) graduate students from our partner institutions to undertake a one-semester visit to Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s.
All scholars will participate in tailor made programming at Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre on entrepreneurship to enhance their professional skills.

The Dunin-Deshpande Queen 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s Innovation Centre (DDQIC) equips all QE Scholars (incoming and outgoing) with entrepreneurial skills and a mindset to foster social and financial impact. Scholars are provided focused training through online modules to enhance their professional skills by earning micro-credentials focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural collaboration.
This project advances 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ ’s institutional priority of incorporating action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals at every level, including international programming, with particular focus on SDG 13: Climate Action.

In Summer 2025, twelve students from Queen's University undertook two-month internship in the Department Of Design, IIT Roorkee, gaining hands-on experience in real-world environmental and socio-economic challenges in three communities in Uttarakhand, India.
Summer 2025 in India Begins
In 2025, leaders from 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ and IIT Roorkee met to celebrate the start of a transformative QES partnership, and 12 students headed into the field tackling real-world challenges in three communities in Uttarakhand, India.
QES 2025: $6.2 million in program funding from the prestigious QES program will support international collaborative projects at 22 Canadian universities and colleges. All projects will focus on the adaptation, response and resilience to a changing climate.
