Robert, president of the Quinte Region Landlords Association, had the opportunity to have a private meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2024 about the housing crisis and how small landlords can be part of the solution. He brought along his father and his two sons as well. Robert has formed an alliance of multiple landlord associations across Ontario to speak with a united voice regarding this issue. He was pleased that the prime minister was receptive to ideas from various sectors and from both the tenant and landlord communities. Ric is happy to announce his recent marriage to Jill McGuire on Sept. 21, 2024. In tribute to their Kingston and Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s roots, the wedding took place at Sacred Heart of Mary Church on Wolfe Island, which was followed by a reception at The University Club on Stuart Street. The occasion was celebrated by Fr. Allison Mahoney, CSC, cousin of the groom, and in the presence of family and friends, including the couple 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s blended clan of six young adult children: (Aidan, Calum, Madeline, Ronan, Brigid, and Ian); daughter-in-law (Claire); and new Anderson grandson (Lucas)! Special Queen 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s cha gheill to Ric 91ÖÆƬ³§ ’s son, Calum Anderson, Law’24!

Jeff tackled the most difficult cycling challenge of his life in 2024, taking on the 1,600-km, nine-day Ride Across Britain event. The event saw 800 people start in Land's End, Cornwall, and just over 500 finish. Each day was 180 kilometres, with several days of 3,000-metre climbs and cold, wet, British weather. For Jeff, it was like nine consecutive marathons. The ride was at times gruelling, but the scenery was often spectacular, particularly for the last four days in Scotland. Jeff did this to raise money for breast cancer research in honour of his sister Betsy Bascom (Artsci’77). He raised more than $40,000 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and other charities.

David is pleased to announce that the second Dugan Heywood mystery was published in September by Indent Publishing. Mugshot is a murder mystery and a sequel to Hedshot (Indent, 2023). Indent also published another of David's books in September, Bach, Beethoven and the Grrrls, a sequel to his bestseller Bach, Beethoven and the Boys. Since 1983, David has been the author or editor of more than a dozen published books; many have become international bestsellers and have been published in languages other than English (including Farsi editions pirated in Iran, for which, alas, David has not received any royalties, only bragging rights!).
